For PE sessions please bring the following:

- Black shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms

- White t-shirt or polo shirt

- Black pumps or trainers

It is usually best to leave your child's PE kit in school for the half-term so that it is always available to use.

Reading

Children complete a star reading test every term which gives them a new 'ZPD'. This is a code which corresponds to a book suitable for the reading level of your child. It is important that your child brings their reading book into school each day. Once your child finishes their book, they will complete a quiz testing how well they have understood the book. Their word count is logged and if they get all of the questions right on the quiz, they join the '100 per cent club'!  It is also crucial that you listen to your child read each evening and ensure that you sign their reading record highlighting what they have read and how they performed.

Within this class reading records will be checked and books changed once quizzes are completed.

Homework

Homework will be set on a Tuesday through our online learning platform, SeeSaw. A link for which is placed below:

All homework should be completed by the following Monday and will be checked by your teacher on this day. Please make sure that if you are having difficulties with the homework, that you contact your class teacher with plenty of time so that they can assist your child in its completion. In addition, the school also run a homework club which can really help support those children that struggle completing their tasks independently.

Is it Right to Fight?

 

As mathematicians we will:

  • Solve ratio and proportion problems
  • Convert amounts in recipes
  • Use scale factors
  • Form expressions and equations
  • Solve equations
  • Use the skill of substitution in algebra
  • Begin to work with decimals

 

As writers we will:

  • Rewrite an Oscar Wilde classic: the Selfish Giant
  • Use subjunctive forms
  • Use passive voice
  • Punctuate some sentences with semi-colons
  • Use formal and maybe archaic language
  • Use language carefully to influence the reader’s opinion of a character

 

As children ‘Living in the Wider World’, in PSHE, we will:

  • Consider how to connect with global issues
  • Explore what rights people have and how they have their rights met
  • Know that there are some cultural practices which are against British law and Universal Human Rights.
  • Know the importance of keeping personal boundaries and the right to privacy.
  • Explore and critique how the media present information
  • Learn what being part of a community means and to know the groups that can support communities locally and nationally
  • Consider the lives of people living in other places, and people with different values and customs
  • Work with other people to make the world a better place
  • Know what it means to set up an enterprise and to begin to develop enterprise skills

 

As historians we will:

  • -Discover what the main causes for WW1 were.
  • -Learn what WW1 would have looked like without the service of animals.
  • -Look at the significant technological developments of WW1
  • -Investigate the impact of the Treaty of Versailles

 

As scientists we will:

  • Explore different factors that impact health and evaluate suggested improvements.
  • Tour the circulatory system through a model to discover its organs and function.
  • Model blood to understand its function and how it connects different organ systems in the body.
  • Research animals' average masses to compare with their heart rates and look for patterns.
  • Plan and conduct an enquiry to investigate the relationship between exercise and heart rate.
  • Record heart rate over time as a line graph to better understand the impact of fitness on heart rate.

 

As geographers we will:

  • Clarify what greenbelt land is
  • Understand why the greenbelt is so important
  • Have an awareness of where the greenbelt land in Timperley is
  • Debate whether changes to our area should be made by people who don’t live in it

 

As artists we will:

  • Know who Muirhead Bone was and understand what story his artwork shares.
  • Use charcoal to create different lines, tones, textures and patterns?
  • Use simple perspective in work using a single focal point and horizon
  • Begin to develop an awareness of composition, scale and proportion in their artwork.

 

As computer scientists we will:

  • Decode messages
  • Explain the impact of historical figures on computer science
  • Create a design of the computer of the future
  • Produce an audio advert with simple edits demonstrating an understanding of how to use the software.

 

As musicians we will:

  • Use musical and comparative language in discussions
  • Follow the melody line
  • Follow scores with a good sense of timing
  • Sing the correct words at the correct time
  • Recall the counter-melody line

 

As Religious Education learners we will:

  • Learn about Brahman
  • Look at Hindu stories
  • Know what is important in the Hindu religion
  • Know what affects the way Hindus live their life
  • Understand and discuss why Hindus want to be good.
