Year 4JC

PE

From February 2nd, the children will be going to Altrincham Leisure Centre for a swimming lesson as well as a gymnastic lesson delivered by a professional gymnastics coach.

Swimming

From this date, every Monday the children should come into school wearing their full PE kit:

  • School jumper
  • Plain, white t-shirt
  • Black jogging bottoms or leggings in the summer. For warmer months, black shorts are suitable.
  • Black trainers
  • The children should place their swimming clothing - a costume or pair of fitted swimming shorts- underneath their school PE kit.
  • No jewellery should be worn. Please ensure that all earrings are removed before the children arrive at school on Monday morning.
  • In a separate bag the children should bring their underwear to put on after swimming as well as a towel.

The children will have their PE kits already worn ready for gymnastics.

Homework

Spelling

Each week, a set of spellings, which are based on the spelling rule which the children have been learning in class, will be uploaded onto Seesaw for the children to learn. In addition, a vocabulary activity sheet will be uploaded for the children to work through related to a word that they are finding it difficult to learn.

Topic Project

For each new topic, a topic project will be uploaded onto Seesaw. The children will be given a number of weeks to complete the project to allow them to really allow their creative talents to flow! The project can be uploaded onto Seesaw or brought into school on completion.

Times Tables

To support the children with their maths number recall, they should spend time at home on Times tables Rockstars.

Reading

In school, the children have access to Accelerated Reader which they can access in school to complete quizzes on books that they have read and build their word count. Every time a child achieves one hundred percent in a quiz, they earn a star which enters them in a draw for the certificate at the end of the half term. In order to complete quizzes, the children should be reading their school book every evening. Of course, any reading for enjoyment is welcomed!
