PE Week 2018

In July 2018, we held our annual PE week. Each year the school uses sport and pupil premium funds to contribute towards exciting sporting opportunities and new experiences.

EYFS - Antz in your Pantz

Year 1 - Carrington Riding School

Year 2 - Rope Race Climbing Centre

Year 3 - Sky High Climbing Adventure

Year 4 and 5 - Grip Adventure - Scavenger hunt, climbing and canoeing

Year 6 - Mini Golf and Driving Range

During the week the children were taught street dance, gymnastics, swimming, boxing, yoga and karate. Each class were set a challenge to run a daily mile, everyone showed determination to set a personal best.

PE Week Stars

Staff chose two children from their class who had shown determination, commitment and effort during the week.

Action plan for 2016-2017

Impact for 2016-2017 and the new sports premium statement for 2017-2018

The Government is committed to supporting schools to continue to develop their PE provision and to encourage children to have an active and healthy life style. The funding has therefore been doubled from 2017 to support this initiative. This funding comes directly to schools who make the decision how to spend this appropriately for their setting.

Schools will spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport. They will have the freedom to choose how they do this but will have to consider and justify their choices in relation to the following categories:

  • The engagement of all pupils in physical activity
  • The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
  • Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  • Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  • Increased participation in competitive sport

At Broomwood we receive £16,000 and then £10 per pupil. We approximately receive £19,190 in total; however this funding crosses over two financial years so the current statement is based on that.
