Welcome to Reception HS

Your teacher this year will be Mrs Stephani(M/T/W) and Miss Hawkins(W/TH/F). Your teaching assistants will be Mrs MgGrory and Mrs Chaisty.

Firstly, welcome to our page. We are so happy that you are visiting us. We must begin by telling you that your children are all wonderful and have begun to settle in beautifully into reception life. We have kick started our topic this half term with a lovely walk around the local environment. The children had a fabulous experience and had lots of things to talk about when they got back to school. We can't wait for our fantastic finish!

We have begun to learn the set 1 RWI sounds this half term. We have been learning one new sound a day and then recapping on all the sounds on a daily basis. The children are doing really well with their phonics and we are looking forwards to teaching the rest of set 1.   Please see the phonics page, under 'Curriculum' for more information.

We have begun to teach maths carpet sessions in reception. So far we have been looking at numbers 1-10, one more/less, number ordering and counting objects. All our lessons are practical, however we are encouraging children to mark make and represent their maths on paper too!

Literacy always focuses around our topic question. We complete a two week block writing task every half term which allows the children to develop their writing skills in a very creative way.

If you would be interested in volunteering in school, please contact the school office for further details.

If you have any questions please ask one of the team! Thank you for your continued support.
