During this topic the children will be learning all about the people who are special to them! Each week we will be asking the children a variety of questions to find out who is special to them, who are their friends in Nursery and who lives with them at home.

This topic will support many areas of the children's development in particular Personal, Social and Emotional Development. The children will begin to develop new friendships. This topic will encourage the children to talk about their interest, family and teach them to share and respect their friends, teachers and family.

Throughout this topic we will be looking at a range of stories such as 'Do you want to be my friend?' by Eric Carle, 'Sharing a shell' by Julia Donaldson and 'Dear Zoo' by Rod Campbell. We will also be looking at some classic fairytales such as 'The three little pigs' and 'Golidilocks and the three bears'

In Maths the children will be focusing on showing interest in shape and talking about shapes or arrangements. The children will also be encouraged to use number names accurately in their play.

The children will have opportunities to bring in photos of their family to share with everyone at Nursery, build their own houses in the workshop area and paint pictures of themselves and their friends in the painting area.
