For our very last topic of the year :( we shall be looking into our Brilliant Bodies! In this topic we shall be learning all about what makes us moves and why we have been designed the way that we have.
We shall have a BIG focus on SCIENCE, studying many things such as; our skeleton, teeth and muscles as well as comparing them to other animals.
We shall link this topic with P.E. Week (Week 5) looking at how to ensure a healthy body and studying what makes a healthy diet.
We will also look at ICT this term, learning how to create our own surveys, questionnaires and data. We shall then present our findings to the whole class!
Finally MUSIC shall be another key focus, where we will be learning how to create our own body percussions!
Remember, always have your P.E. kit in as P.E. Week is just around the corner
SWIMMING every Tuesday
Create your own picture/ sculpture/ model of the human body. Adding in as many body parts as you can - identifying bones, muscles and organs. Due in Monday 23rd July.
Summer 1 - The Rainforest!
We are venturing into the Rainforest!
What shall we discover? What shall we be learning?
Take in the wondrous noises, sweltering heat and the captivating creatures as we take a tour of this impressive ecosystem :)
Our Geography focus for this term shall look into...
- climate zones
- vegetation belts
- types of settlement and land use, economic activity including trade links, and the distribution of natural resources including energy, food, minerals and water
In Science we shall be learning about living things and their environment:
Recognise that living things can be grouped in different ways
Explore and use classification keys to help group, identify and name a variety of living things in their local and wider environment.
Recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things.
Construct and interpret a variety of food chains, identifying producers, predators and prey.
For our Music sessions, we shall be creating on own Samba- style of music that could be played in the middle of the Brazilian Carnival!
In Art we shall be designing and creating a sculpture that is going to show the plight of the rainforest and how it is going to affect humans. Based on similar work by the sculptor, Henry Moore.
Don't forget that if you have done any further research about the rainforests at home I will be happy to show them under my visualiser!
