Summer 1 & 2 - The Seaside

SATS are coming up and we are working hard, but we are still doing lots of interesting activities in class!

Literacy - Looking at the story of Scaredy Squirrel and using this to develop our own writing. We will be creating instructions, diary entries and letters. We will also continue working on our Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar knowledge.   

Numeracy - Revision of everything we have been doing - including multiples of 10, adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers, multiplication, division, worded problems and fractions. We will also be looking at shapes and data handling (graphs and charts). 

Music - Crateing our own musical composition to accomany a trip to the sea side. We will also be learning about rhythm and tempo.  

History- Understanding chnages in living memory. We will be looking at how the seaside has changed over time, including the entertainment, clothing, transport and buildings.

Geography - Finding out where sea sides are. Comparing different sea sides and finding out how we would get there.

DT - Designing and making our own Punch and Judy puppets.

Art - Watercolour art about the Seaside.

French - Learning about different weater forecasts and using these to ask and answer questions. Knowing how to introduce ourselves, count to 20 and join in French songs and stories. 

Science - Finding out about different types of animals and where they live. Investigating different habitats and how creatures are suited to living there.

Computing - Researching how to take and edit photos. Digitally editing our own photographs to improve them.

RE - Finding out about religious stories.  

PE - Street dance with Becky (Tuesday). Tennis (Friday).

 

 

We had a wonderful trip to Dunham Massey. We found out about the deer, plants and history of the park. We also developed our map reading skills. It was really interesting and we had a great day.

In our Topic we have done lots of RE work about Hindusim. We learned about Rangoli patterns, the story of Rama and Sita, Diva lamps, different foods and we found similarities and differences between Diwali and Christmas.

In our topic work we evaluated shop bought samosas. We then learned the skills, designed, created and evaluated our own.

In Maths we have ordered numbers. First we looked at the hundreds, then the tens, then the ones (units).
