Summer 1

Our next topic is

ONCE UPON A TIME

We have started a little late as our plants became a little over-grown...

But we are desperately excited about our trip to BEESTON CASTLE on Monday 15th May.

As well as experiencing a REAL LIFE CASTLE-RUIN, we will be learning about traditional tales. We will also be bringing our own fairy tale to life by using a green screen in ICT.

Keep visiting our class blog to keep track of our progress!

A visit from Tesco- trying the ingredients for hot cross buns and decorating our own Easter eggs!

We have officially started our topic, which is

PLANTS!

Just in time for the first snowdrops to form and the daffodils to sprout.

We have been really excited about this topic and have already begun to develop green-fingers. We have planted some sunflowers, investigated the different parts of a plant and sketch some plants that are grown in England.

We are going to be learning about plants and how they grow, using inspiration from Beethoven and Georgie O Keefe for the arts, comparing the different locations that plants are from and making our own webpage!

Top TIP!

Make sure that you brush up on your sewing skills...

We also have Street dance with Becky on w WEDNESDAY and Boxing with Mark on a TUESDAY.

Keep coming back to here to be updated with our creative learning.

Fantastic Finish- Making sound with electricity!

It is SPRING (even though it doesn't quite feel like it yet...)

This half term, our topic is SOUND'S AMAZING.

We have some wonderfully interesting science investigations to do, like how do things make a sound? What happens as you move away from the source of a sound? How can we protect our ears from loud sounds and how can we sound proof our classroom?

We are also going to be looking at the history of sound recording and who we can thank for the Ipod today. In music, we are going to be composing our own soundtracks and even digitally editing them in ICT!

We also have Becky twice a week (Wednesday and Friday) and Mr Busby for handball on Friday afternoon (please make sure you have your outdoor kit as it's getting colder not warmer!

Keep coming back to our class page to be up to date with what's going on both inside and outside the classroom!

Ben's amazing volcano information!

Musical composition

Musical composition 1 composing our own sand track to Harry Potter

Non Chronological Reports- these are our final drafts of our volcano reports. We have learnt a lot about volcanoes through literacy.

Look at how amazing our 3d models were! These children did these for their homework! What great learning. WELL DONE

This half term, we have music composition on Monday, boxing on Tuesday and gymnastics on a Wednesday. Please make sure that the children have full kits for PE on the right day.

During Autumn 2, our topic is Volcanoes. We are finding it really interesting already. For our stunning start, we went on a google expedition to visit the volcanoes in India and we are already learning so much about how new land is created. We have also a.watched clips from Planet search to help us understand and made 3d models for homework. They were so amazing that we showed them in assembly!

During Autumn 1, our topic is

THE VIKINGS.

We started the topic with a real Viking that had been grown in Natural History Museum and he told us some really interesting facts about them.

We have already learnt so much about where the Vikings came from and how they lived. We have compared the lives of a farmer and a voyager. We are also learning about Viking Sagas and even composing our own! Come and ask us about Loki the Joker if you want to find out more.

In science, we are learning about the states of matter and became particles that had strong bonds for solids, and we destroyed our bonds to become a gas!

We are also doing Musical Theatre on a Monday, where we are rehearsing for our Harvest Assembly.

Picture 1 We used rock to help us understand particles
