Welcome to Reception KHB
Your teacher this year will be Mrs Hamm-Balliu and teaching assistants will be Mrs Powell, Miss Fitzgibbon and Mrs Chaisty.
This half term we will be exploring the question 'Are all minibeasts scary?'
Children across the reception classes are split into smaller phonics group to target needs more specifically. All groups will follow the Read Write Inc. sythetic phonics programme.
In numeracy we will be working halving, doubling and sharing problems. We will also be investigating shape, learning the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. We approach mathematics through practical problem solving, using continuous provision so children learn as they explore, for example 'can they share leaves between 2 hungry caterpillars?'
We will be developing our reading and writing of short sentences, applying our phonics sounds to each word and reading back our work. We will also be exploring lots of exciting mini beast stories including 'The very busy spider' and 'The very hungry caterpillar'.
Children write for a variety of purposes and we use interests and topic to inspire them!
Trip to Eureka Tuesday 7th May 2019 - all day trip (Lunch will be provided to school dinner children only, if you usually bring a packed lunch please do so in a disposable bag).
If you have any questions please ask one of the team! Thank you for your continued support.
