How to support your child with RWI
On this page there are some resources and videos that will be helpful when supporting your child with their phonics at home.
We recommend watching the videos with your child regularly to practise sound pronuniciation and actions we use in school. We find the combination of a visual, the sound and an action really supports childrens memory - so get involved with actions too! The pictures and graphemes (the written sound) are included on the sound charts. These can be useful to refer to when writing.
As with all skills it is practise is key to mastery! Reading with your child regularly (both school and non school books) is essential to apply skills learnt in phonics to develop fluency and confidence in reading.
Thank you for taking the time to read this page.
