Our Big Question

Summer 1: Who goes to the ugly bug ball?

This half term we will be learning all about minibeasts. We will be exploring outside to see if we can find where they live, moving like our favourite minibeasts and learning some new songs. We will be reading some wonderful stories including 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and 'Mad about Minibeasts'

We also have some of our own minibeasts to look after in Preschool.

Do you know what they are?

Spring 2: What might we find on the farm?

Our topic this half term is all about the farm. We will be learning all about the animals and things that are on a farm. We will also learn the song Old MacDonald and the sign language actions for the different animals.

Old MacDonald Had A Farm + more animal theme nursery rhymes

Old MacDonald had a farm. And on that farm he had some cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, horses, roosters, and whole lot more animals! What does a cow say?

Spring 1: What colours make me feel happy? What colours make me feel sad?

This half term we will be exploring colour. We will be learning the names of some of our favourite colours and talking about which ones make us feel happy. We will be reading stories including 'Something beginning with blue' and ' Kippers Blue Balloon'. We will also be learning the rainbow song.

Autumn 2: What happens at night?

This half term our big question is: ‘What happens at night?’

We will be looking at the story ‘peace a last’ and talking about things that change at night, what we can see, what we can hear, night time routines and learning about nocturnal animals too.

Autumn 1: Who lives in our house?

This half term we are thinking about the people who are important to us. We will start by talking about the new people in our lives at preschool, including our teachers and new friends. We will then move onto talking about our immediate family, who brings us to preschool and of course who lives in our house.
